| Butler County REC is a member-owned electric distribution utility providing electrical power and related services to approximately 5,037 farms, homes, businesses and industries in northeast Iowa. Our service territory lies mainly within Bremer, Butler, Chickasaw and Floyd Counties. In addition, we service the communities of Aplington, Fairbank, Fredericksburg, and Readlyn with wholesale power.

One advantage of receiving electrical power from us is that you belong to a locally owned company directed by the people it serves. As a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, we operate under the core values of integrity, accountability, innovation, commitment to community and teamwork.
We are governed by a board of directors who are elected by the member-owners of Butler County REC. The board is made up of nine co-op members serving three-year terms. Each year at our annual meeting, members cast their votes and elect three directors.
Our cooperative's purpose is to improve quality of life for those whose lives we touch.
